Budget 2023: What's Cheap and What's Expensive
The Indian Union Budget 2023 was recently announced by the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman. In this article, we will take a closer look at what items have become cheaper or more expensive under this budget.
On the cheaper side, the budget has proposed to reduce customs duty on raw materials and capital goods used in the production of mobile phones, laptops and televisions, making these electronics more affordable for the common man.
However, the budget, presented in Parliament on Wednesday, has led to an increase in prices for some imported products. The basic custom duty on kitchen chimneys has been raised from 15% to 30%, the duty on bicycles has increased from 30% to 35%, and toys and toy parts (excluding electronic toy parts) now face a 70% duty, up from 60%.
